Floral Designer

Goff & Dittman Florists is seeking to hire a dynamic and creative individual to join our floral design team! Our shop has been in business since 1948 and is family owned and operated. We are looking for a floral designer with at least 2 years retail, floral design experience to be a part of our team. We are a retail florist that serves customers for every day, sympathy, special event, holiday and event orders.

Duties Include:

• Design and create/arrange original floral designs in fresh and silk flowers
• Interpret work orders and follow design instructions/recipes
• Figure cost and price on arrangements by following preset price list and formulas
• Work with green plants and potting soil
• Maintain a clean work space and store environment
• Assisting in store customers to provide excellent customer service
• Use of equipment such as knife, foliage stripper, shears, hot glue gun, wire cutters, telephone etc.
• Communicate orders with other floral shops
• Processing fresh flowers for optimal holding time
• Merchandising store displays

Qualifications:

• Must have at least 2 years of floral design experience in a retail setting
• Dependable and Professional
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure
• Capable to work in one spot for lengthy periods and stock in a 40 degree cooler
• Ability to work with floral chemicals
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs., ex. buckets of flowers, cases of vases
• Knowledge of floral design and style for all occasions to include fresh and silk arrangements
• Knowledge of cut flower identification, care, and handling procedures
• Comfortable using computer point of sale system and overall typing skills
• Must work well with co-workers as this is a team environment and we work together to produce the best quality arrangements

Position Characteristics:

• Full-Time or Part-Time, Business Hours are Mon-Fri 8:30am-4pm and Saturday 9am-2pm. Candidate's schedule will be reflective of full or part time upon hire.
• Additional hours during floral holidays (Valentine's Day, Mothers Day, Christmas) may be required, but are scheduled in advance
• Benefits for full-time employees include paid holidays, PTO, health, dental, and vision insurance, and retirement fund with employer match.
• Benefits for part-time employees include paid leave.
• $18.00/Hr to $21.00/Hr Pay Range, Based on Qualifications and Experience
• Additional Store Gratuity Pool paid with each paycheck for full and part time employees
