We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Freight and Logistics Specialist with offshore energy sector and/or maritime experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination and management of international multi-modal freight shipments.
This role requires a deep understanding of logistics, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, shipping lines, customs agents, and internal teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Shipment Management:
- Manage Procure 2 Pay process for assigned freight & logistics tasks
- Coordinate and manage the complete life cycle of freight shipments, including air freight, FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less than Container Load) from origin to destination.
- Book vessel space with various shipping lines and NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers) at competitive rates.
- Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (B/L), customs declarations, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Customer and Partner Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely updates on shipment status, resolving issues, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with overseas agents, trucking companies, and warehouses to ensure smooth cargo pickup and delivery.
- Negotiate rates and service contracts with carriers and vendors.
- Operational Excellence:
- Monitor and track shipments in real-time, proactively identifying and resolving potential delays or issues.
- Ensure all logistics processes comply with international shipping regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all shipments in the logistics register.
- Problem Solving and Analysis:
- Analyze freight costs and transit times to optimize shipping routes and methods.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Handle and resolve any unforeseen challenges such as customs delays, cargo damage, or port congestion.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field preferred. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CSCMP, APICS) are a plus.
- Min. 5 years of proven experience in freight forwarding ideally supporting offshore oil & gas or maritime operations
- Solid understanding of international shipping documentation, incoterms, and customs procedures.
- Experience with logistics software and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Skills:
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with various types of cargo, including general and dangerous goods (HazMat).
