The Los Angeles Water and Power (LADWP) Division acts as General Counsel to the Board of Water & Power Commissioners, its officers, and employees. Division attorneys are responsible for legal representation, counsel and advice, and handling litigation related to LADWP operations.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The selected attorney’s primary responsibilities will include: Managing and providing guidance and direction to a team of attorneys and support staff.Overseeing and providing legal advice to LADWP’s Board of Commissioners, executive management, and various staff counsel on major litigation, transactional matters, and operational issues.Overseeing the supervision of outside counsel.

Current LocationCity Hall East, 200 N. Main Street, Los Angeles and 221 N. Figueroa St. Los Angeles. Position is subject to assignment at any location within the County of Los Angeles.ProbationAppointment to this exempt position (non-Civil Service) will be subject to a two year probationary period as required by Section 1050 of the City Charter. Successfully completing this probationary period will result in tenure with the office.ClassificationInternal applicants: Placement in this position will be as a lateral transfer with the selected candidate assuming the position in their current classification.
