Grant Accountant

Hiring Range: $54,745.50 - $73,236.80

The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Responsibilities:

Grant Accounting

  • Maintain general ledger accounts for all grants, including revenue recognition, expenditures, and adjustments.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for grant activity in accordance with GAAP and CFR requirements.
  • Track budgets vs. actuals and identify variances for program and leadership review.
  • Reconcile grant accounts monthly and ensure clean, auditable records.
  • Assist with annual audits, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.

Grant Compliance & Monitoring

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, private, and foundation grant requirements.
  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar for reporting deadlines, renewal requirements, and compliance checkpoints.
  • Review grant expenditures for allowability, allocability, and reasonableness under OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) when applicable.
  • Monitor subrecipient contracts, invoices, and documentation for compliance.
  • Ensure procurement, timekeeping, and cost allocation practices meet grant requirements.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for grantors.
  • Support program managers with financial updates, budget modifications, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in preparing financial components of grant proposals, renewals, and amendments.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

  • Recommend and implement internal controls related to grant-funded operations.
  • Create and maintain policies and procedures for grant compliance.
  • Train program staff on grant budgets, spending rules, and required documentation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years (5 years preferred) experience in Grant, Funding & Development accounting or related field required.
  • Knowledge of federal grant regulations (Uniform Guidance) and CFR reporting requirements strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Non-Profit Grant & Funding preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and SEFA reporting requirements strongly preferred.
