Position Summary
Perform a wide variety of office tasks requiring a thorough knowledge of policies, procedures and systems, providing expert administrative support to faculty members of the Department of Pathology and Microbiology. Assist in the planning, organizing and implementing of research associated activities for faculty and the department. Position is required to handle matters of a moderately complex nature to conserve supervisor’s time.

Expert knowledge of the principles of office management/procedures as applied to effective organization of office and department operations, as well as ability to plan and organize the workflow in a busy office environment.

Excellent computer skills, including experience with word processing, database and spreadsheet software programs required.

Excellent customer service abilities, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, as well as to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, department administrative staff, interdepartmental contacts and the general public.

Ability to be self-directed in accomplishing the coordination and decision making responsibilities of this position, and be resourceful in problem solving and able to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to be organized and flexible in response to changing demands, handling a high volume of work under pressure.

Associate's degree or equivalent

Scientific terminology; transcription of dictated materials; must be able to work in demanding and stressful situations with complete accuracy, confidentiality, and dependability; must be able to meet deadlines on a regular basis; must present a positive and professional image at all times; and the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
