Job Purpose:
To ensure that all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures are effectively implemented and maintained during the fabrication, installation, and repair of GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) piping and structures, in compliance with company policy, project specifications, and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices at GRP fabrication and installation sites.
- Conduct daily site inspections to identify potential hazards related to GRP work such as resin handling, lamination, grinding, confined space entry, and chemical exposure.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce compliance among all workers and subcontractors.
- Verify that GRP lamination, cutting, grinding, and curing operations follow safety standards and manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Conduct risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and toolbox talks specific to GRP activities.
- Maintain and update HSE records, including incident reports, near-miss logs, and inspection checklists.
- Coordinate and participate in safety training and emergency drills (fire, chemical spill, first aid, etc.).
- Report and investigate accidents, incidents, and unsafe acts/conditions, recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of hazardous materials such as resins, catalysts, and solvents used in GRP fabrication.
- Liaise with site management, supervisors, and client HSE representatives for continuous safety improvement.
- Promote a positive safety culture among all workers through communication and motivation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering.
- NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA certification or equivalent (mandatory).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HSE field, with at least 2 years in GRP, fiberglass, or composite material works (fabrication or installation).
- Knowledge of GRP chemical hazards, ventilation requirements, and lamination safety procedures.
- Familiar with local and international safety regulations (Qatar Construction Standards, OSHA, ISO 45001, etc.).
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of hazard identification and risk control.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to train and motivate workers on safety practices.
- Good report writing and documentation skills.
- Observant, proactive, and safety-oriented mindset.
Work Environment:
- GRP fabrication workshops, construction, and installation sites.
- Exposure to chemicals, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions (with full PPE and safety controls).
- May require shift work or site mobility depending on project requirements.
