Head of Business Development – Ancillary & ANFO – (PHR/1035/1)

Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The position is responsible for driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence across Ancillary and ANFO/ANPP product lines, including Nitric Acid, Ammonia, Ammonium Nitrate Crystals, Liquid CO₂, Local Rock Phosphate (for import substitution and export), and ANFO/ANPP.

The position oversees sales, marketing, distribution, and full P&L ownership, while leading the commercialization of ANFO/ANPP, forging strategic international joint ventures, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building organizational capability through team development and succession planning.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Define and lead the long-term strategic vision for Ancillary, Local Rock Phosphate and ANFO/ANPP business segments in alignment with corporate goals.
  • Drive commercialization and market expansion of ANFO/ANPP, including product positioning locally and internationally, customer acquisition strategies, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead joint venture negotiations and partnerships with international organizations to strengthen technical expertise, production capabilities, and market presence.
  • Monitor global and domestic market trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to adapt business strategies accordingly.
  • Establish and oversee strategic KPIs, ensuring sustainable business growth, market share expansion, and competitive positioning.

Sales, Distribution & P&L Management

  • Lead and manage P&L for the Ancillary, Local Rock Phospate and ANFO/ANPP businesses, ensuring revenue targets, cost efficiency, and profitability are consistently met.
  • Oversee development and execution of sales plans, pricing strategies, and customer segmentation models across both product lines.
  • Align demand planning and production schedules through integrated coordination with supply chain and plant operations.
  • Optimize logistics and distribution infrastructure to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery to customers.
  • Lead high-value commercial negotiations, contract structuring, and renewal processes aligned with long-term business interests.

Commercialization & Market Development

  • Engage with key customer segments across mining, infrastructure, and industrial sectors for ANFO/ANPP solutions.
  • Build customer-centric strategies focused on long-term partnerships, customized offerings, and superior service delivery.
  • Evaluate and implement go-to-market models for both domestic and emerging markets.

Governance, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure full compliance with the Department of Explosives and other relevant authorities for the production, handling, and distribution of ANFO/ANPP.
  • Oversee internal controls, budgeting, risk management, COSO and periodic business performance reporting.
  • Ensure ethical practices, legal conformity, and strong operational discipline across all business activities.

Talent, Capability & Succession Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional team across commercial, technical, and operational domains.
  • Define talent development plans, mentorship programs, and functional learning roadmaps for business unit employees.
  • Identify and groom successors for critical roles through structured succession planning.
  • Collaborate with HR and senior leadership to strengthen employee engagement, retention, and organizational culture.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 18 to 20 years’ experience in business development, commercialization, or general management within chemical, industrial, or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in Fuel industry market development, joint ventures, and P&L ownership.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a proven record in team development, strategic thinking, and operational execution.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards related to ANFO/ANPP.
  • Strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management, and international exposure preferred.
