Job Title: Head of MEP
Job Summary
The Head of MEP is responsible for leading and overseeing all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering activities across the company’s construction projects. The role ensures the successful planning, design coordination, installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The Head of MEP works closely with project management, design consultants, subcontractors, and procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the MEP department, including engineers, supervisors, and site teams.
- Develop MEP strategies, procedures, and best practices to improve project efficiency and quality.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams on all MEP-related matters.
- Oversee all MEP activities across multiple construction projects from design to completion.
- Review MEP design drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and consultants to resolve design conflicts.
- Ensure proper installation, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems.
- Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize MEP designs and reduce project costs.
- Ensure compliance with international standards and local authority regulations.
- Review and approve technical submissions, materials, and equipment.
- Work closely with procurement teams to source and select MEP suppliers and subcontractors.
- Review and approve technical specifications for materials and equipment.
- Evaluate subcontractor performance and ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Ensure all MEP installations comply with safety regulations, project specifications, and quality standards.
- Participate in inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover processes.
- Monitor project progress and address technical issues promptly.
- Monitor MEP project costs and ensure work is completed within budget.
- Support the commercial team in cost estimation, variation management, and project forecasting.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Professional certifications (PMP, CEng, LEED, etc.) are an advantage.
- 12–15+ years of experience in MEP engineering within construction or contracting companies.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership or managerial role.
