The Head Server is responsible for overseeing front-of-house service in a restaurant or hospitality setting. This role includes managing and supporting the waitstaff, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, coordinating table assignments, and serving guests during busy hours.


Key Responsibilities


Customer Service:

  • Greet and serve guests in a professional, timely, and friendly manner.
  • Ensure all guests have an exceptional dining experience.
  • Handle customer complaints or concerns efficiently and professionally.

Staff Supervision & Support:

  • Lead and support the waitstaff team during shifts.
  • Train new servers and ensure ongoing compliance with service standards.
  • Assign tables and manage section rotations for servers.

Operational Duties:

  • Oversee dining setup, cleanliness, and readiness before and during service.
  • Communicate closely with kitchen staff regarding menu changes, dietary needs, and order issues.
  • Assist in inventory checks and restocking service areas as needed.

Administrative:

  • Maintain records of server performance and help with scheduling if required.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Report to the restaurant manager or floor manager with updates or concerns.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience as a server or head waiter in a full-service restaurant.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Basic knowledge of POS systems and order management.
