  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety and environmental programs and policies for waste management operations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards associated with waste handling, disposal, and recycling.
  • Advise management on best practices for health, safety, and environmental issues in waste management processes.
  • Ensure that waste management practices are in line with environmental laws, including waste disposal, recycling, and hazardous material handling.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to waste disposal, recycling, and waste treatment.
  • Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations related to health, safety, and environmental standards in waste management.
  • Ensure that waste management activities are in compliance with international standards, where applicable (e.g., ISO 14001 for environmental management).
  • Conduct training programs for staff on proper waste handling, emergency procedures, and safety practices.
  • Raise awareness among employees regarding environmental and safety policies, ensuring all employees are familiar with waste management practices.
  • Provide safety instructions to personnel working in hazardous waste areas.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents within waste management operations to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences.
  • Prepare reports and document findings related to any safety or environmental incidents.
  • Implement strategies for reducing waste generation, increasing recycling rates, and preventing pollution.
  • Monitor waste streams to ensure proper segregation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Promote sustainable waste management practices, such as reducing, reusing, and recycling.
  • Maintain records related to waste disposal, hazardous waste management, and environmental compliance.
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety and environmental performance.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for accidents involving hazardous waste or chemical spills.
  • Lead or participate in emergency response drills to ensure readiness for waste-related incidents.
  • Evaluate waste management processes and recommend improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and environmental performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to continuously improve waste management strategies.
