HSE Section Head "Engineering Background"

As a Health & Safety Section Head, you will lead and oversee the implementation of Health and Safety strategies across all construction sites. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that all operations are compliant with health and safety regulations, and in fostering a strong safety culture within the organization. You will manage a team of HSE professionals, oversee risk management, and provide expert guidance to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Your responsibilities will encompass the following key areas:

Strategic Planning and Policy Development:

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure alignment of HSE practices with both local laws and international standards.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage, mentor, and guide the HSE team to ensure high performance and consistency across all projects.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide development plans for team members.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Oversee risk assessments and hazard identification processes on all project sites.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations and internal policies.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies during audits, inspections, or investigations.

Incident Prevention and Response:

  • Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of incidents, corrective measures, and safety performance indicators.

Training and Awareness:

  • Design and deliver advanced HSE training programs for staff and subcontractors.
  • Ensure that safety induction sessions are conducted for all new site personnel.

Site Inspections and Audits:

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas of non-compliance or improvement.
  • Implement and monitor corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.

Safety Culture and Communication:

  • Drive a proactive safety culture throughout the organization by promoting open communication, accountability, and employee engagement.
  • Develop safety campaigns and initiatives to raise awareness.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and present comprehensive HSE reports to senior management.
  • Analyze data trends and recommend strategic actions to improve safety performance.



To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is a must.
  • +10 years of progressive experience in HSE management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background in large-scale construction projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and drive organizational change.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.
  • NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent professional certification is required.
