Summary: The Human Resources Assistant participates in day-to-day Human Resources activities related to policies and procedures, recruitment and staffing, payroll, staff engagement, and general office administration. Responsibilities require customary and regular exercise of discretion, independent judgment and initiative.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with the organization and timely processing of personnel documents.
  • Serves as resource for staff members for questions regarding benefits and company policies.
  • Assists in the maintenance of company benefits, including group health insurance, worker’s compensation, and retirement benefits.
  • Participates in updating company human resources policies, procedure manuals, org charts, and handbook.
  • Provides employee training and benefit programs as directed.
  • Coordinates completion of new hire and onboarding checklists.
  • Assists with the tracking of training and RFC’s.
  • Actively participates in the planning and implementation of staff engagement events.
  • Supports recruitment and hiring processes within the company.
  • Helps prepare exit paperwork and complete termination tasks as directed.
  • Assists with time sheet audits, payroll data entry, reviews, and other payroll processes as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Desired Outcomes or Results:

There will be a smooth flow of documents and communication, while meeting required deadlines, and adhering to GES’ established goals, procedures, and professional standards. The Human Resources Assistant will work closely with the Human Resources Manager and other clerical staff in accomplishing successful onboarding and training of staff, document and data processing, and staff engagement efforts. The Human Resources Assistant must be able to respond to the needs of several staff members and clients at once, using tact and diplomacy.

Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required or Desirables:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 2 years clerical experience or other experience in Human Resources
  • Proven ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Ability to influence others using positive reinforcement
  • Highly proficient word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills
  • Experience with database software and data entry
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Professional attitude, telephone etiquette, and appearance
