THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Human Resources Generalist to join our team in New Jersey. This role provides broad HR support across employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance, compliance, and leave management. The HR Generalist is a critical member of our HR team—partnering with managers, supporting employees, and ensuring consistent, compliant, and people-focused HR practices. WHAT YOU’LL DO:

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR-related inquiries.
  • Assist in resolving employee relations matters and escalate complex issues as appropriate.
  • Support managers in addressing routine performance or conduct concerns.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and productive workplace culture.

RECRUITMENT & ONBOARDING

  • Partner with hiring managers on job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and candidate communication.
  • Support the recruitment process through onboarding, ensuring a smooth and positive candidate and new hire experience.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and assist employees in successfully integrating into the company.

PERFORMANCE & DEVELOPMENT

  • Assist with the performance review process, tracking goals and employee feedback.
  • Support managers with tools and resources for employee coaching and development.
  • Help maintain training and certification records.

HR OPERATIONS & COMPLIANCE

  • Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data, and reporting.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations.
  • Coordinate with payroll and benefits teams for employee changes, enrollments, and terminations.
  • Assist with HR policies, communications, and special projects as assigned.

LEAVE MANAGEMENT

  • Administer leave of absence programs including FMLA, state leave, disability, and personal leave requests.
  • Track and document leave requests to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with employees, managers, payroll, and benefits providers throughout the leave process.
  • Provide guidance on leave eligibility, procedures, and return-to-work requirements.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent education and experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in an HR role; experience in construction, crane, or heavy equipment industries is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes, recruitment, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Knowledge of leave management processes including FMLA, state-specific leave laws, and related compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Proficiency with HR systems and technology; ADP experience preferred.
