Job Title: HR Generalist
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: HR Manager

FLSA: Exempt

Description: This position will include the execution of a broad range of human resources responsibilities while providing strong customer service support to employees within a multi-state environment. Requires a strong knowledge of employment law, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture. May carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: Recruitment and onboarding, benefits leave of absence administration, compliance, HR administration. This is a highly visible, high impact position where a successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a decisive role in the future success and growth of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts recruitment efforts to include job postings, pre-screening, phone interview, and interview scheduling
  • Develop and revise job descriptions
  • Facilitate all administrative tasks for new hires, new-hire orientation, and exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance
  • Manages all leaves of absence, including the coordination of workers comp and disability claims with the carrier.
  • Deploy and administer programs, policies, practices and processes
  • Partner with leadership to implement workforce strategies to meet organization objectives
  • Provides guidance to employees and managers on workplace policies, programs, and procedures; Resolves HR inquiries or escalates appropriately
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents training.
  • Manages the off-boarding process and ensures that all termination processes are followed
  • Assist with the communication and rollout of updated or new people programs and policies
  • Conduct audits of various payroll, benefits, or other HR programs
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, including Federal Contractor requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate employee records, including physical and electronic files, HRIS data, and other HR documentation.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of multi-state HR Generalist experience, preferably in a construction environment.
  • Experience influencing and building strong relationships with business partners.
  • Prior experience in benefit and leave of absence communication and administration.
  • Experience in assisting in creating SOP’s related to the employee lifecycle.
  • Experience with Federal Contractor Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, or closely related field (preferred)
  • Professional HR Certification or advanced trainings (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license and have a driving record in good standing

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies (up to 15 lbs.)

Work Environment:

  • This position is eligible for remote work opportunities
  • Travel may be required 5% of the time
