What You Will Do
The Human Resource Generalist provides operational HR and high-volume staffing support for our Franklin, WI facility. This role plays a critical part in driving aggressive recruiting efforts for both hourly production roles and salaried professional positions, while also supporting employee relations, training, HR systems, and benefits administration.
The HR Generalist will partner closely with site leadership to understand workforce needs, proactively build talent pipelines, and continuously improve recruiting, onboarding, and retention outcomes. This role is highly visible and hands-on, engaging directly with employees and candidates to help make API Heat Transfer the employer of choice in our community.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Staffing (Primary Focus)
- Lead and execute full-cycle, high-volume recruitment for hourly manufacturing roles, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
- Support recruitment for salaried positions across professional, technical, and leadership roles, partnering with hiring managers and HR leadership.
- Develop and maintain active talent pipelines through job boards, community partnerships, schools, agencies, referrals, and local outreach.
- Coordinate and participate in job fairs, hiring events, plant tours, and community recruiting initiatives.
- Partner with hiring managers to clarify role requirements, staffing priorities, and workforce planning needs.
- Track recruiting activity, time-to-fill, and candidate flow, identifying opportunities to improve speed, quality, and candidate experience.
- Ensure a consistent, engaging onboarding experience that supports early retention and cultural integration.
Onboarding, Orientation & HR Administration
- Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding, including EHS and standard company policies and procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement of delivery.
- Facilitate completion of routine HR functions such as preparation and maintenance of employee files, ensuring data integrity in HR systems, and developing and maintaining position descriptions.
Employee Relations
- Maintain a visible HR presence on the floor and act as the primary point of contact for employee questions and concerns.
- Partner with the HR Operations Manager to address employee relations issues by conducting investigations, documenting findings, and following through to resolution.
- Participate in and help guide the Employee Engagement Committee to strengthen culture and community connection.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
- Support the performance appraisal process, ensuring evaluations are completed accurately and on time.
- Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors on performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
- Manage disciplinary processes in partnership with supervisors and the HR Operations Manager.
- Participate in continuous improvement of HR systems and processes, including weekly reporting, KPI tracking, and implementation of countermeasures to improve results.
Reporting & Metrics
- Maintain and analyze HR metrics related to recruiting activity, turnover, staffing levels, and retention, preparing insights for site and HR leadership.
- Use data to identify workforce trends and support strategic staffing decisions.
Training & Development
- Maintain and continuously improve training and development plans for hourly associates.
- Partner with leadership and subject matter experts to support competency development and internal talent growth.
- Support succession planning and talent management initiatives.
HR Projects
- Participate in and lead special HR projects such as employee engagement initiatives, diversity efforts, surveys, or wellness programs.
- Support HR process improvements and system implementations tied to efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.
What You Bring
- Minimum of three years of related HR experience; Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with high-volume recruiting for hourly roles, ideally in a manufacturing or operations environment.
- Experience supporting or recruiting for salaried/professional roles strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility at all levels—from production associates to senior leaders.
- Passion for being a change agent and contributing to continuous improvement across people and processes.
- Collaborative, hands-on approach with comfort leading without authority.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Flexibility and adaptability in a growing, evolving organization.
