Position Title: Human Resources Generalist

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Classification: Salary; Exempt

Attendance at HIPAA and compliance educational programs is a requirement of employment.

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the CEO, the HR Generalist has major responsibilities in the areas or organizational structure and process, agency polies and procedures, personnel administration, supervisor principles and practices, and business administration. Responsible for the administration of all Human Resources functions and activities, workforce development, unemployment, credentialing of providers, recruitment and retention, benefit administration and recruitment. Personnel conflict management and investigations with the CEO and the Lifecare Attorney as needed, and record keeping for all Lifecare Family Health & Dental Center staff. Maintains current professional and technical human resources and employment expertise by attending educational workshops and seminars as appropriate. Develops and maintains good working relationships with staff, management, the Board of Directors, and the general public. Applies human resource principles to practical work situations. Maintains confidentiality while answering sensitive inquiries. The HR Generalist will serve as leader that promotes a positive company culture.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In coordination with managers and the CEO, manage the recruitment process to completion, either dismissal of candidates from consideration or employment.
  • Regularly engage with the CEO and supervisors to ensure that all current and future vacancies are filled in a timely fashion.
  • Assist Management with writing and posting ads for open positions. Receive and review employment applications and coordinate interviews for qualified candidates.
  • Process and collect all new hire paperwork and conduct new hire orientation.
  • Coordinate and monitor background checks including drug and alcohol testing for prospective employees.
  • Personnel conflict management.
  • Conduct investigations with the CEO and coordinate with the Lifecare attorney on HR issues as needed.
  • Manage employee benefits including medical, prescription, dental, vision, voluntary benefits programs and the yearly benefits renewal.
  • Create, maintain, and update employee personnel files as needed including I-9, medical and personnel file and protect confidentiality of employee files.
  • Manage the FMLA and COBRA compliance processes.
  • Coordinate and monitor Workers Compensation and unemployment compensation claims.
  • Advise management on human resources issues including disciplinary actions and counseling of employees.
  • Assist management with the annual evaluation process.
  • Coach and guide all employees and monitor employee turnover.
  • In coordination with the CEO, maintain and update Employee Handbook and policies as requested and/or updated.
  • Complete credentialing and re-credentialing for providers.
  • Assist with the preparation and agenda for the monthly Personnel Committee meeting and attend the meeting.
  • Speak at all staff meetings when asked and prepare several presentations per year for the board of directors regarding general HR issues and turnover.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of business, patient, and employee information.
  • Uphold the philosophy, goals and objectives of Lifecare Family Health and Dental Center.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Information concerning employees in computer database; maintain files of employee records and documents.
  • Serve on the Greater Leadership Team and attend meetings.
  • Coordinate the Employee of the Month program.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Attend workshops and job fairs as needed.
  • Manage random drug screening program.
  • Travels when necessary to meet operational needs.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or human resources management preferred.
  • Minimum requirement: Associate’s degree in business administration or human resources management and SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification required.
  • 3-5 years experience in Human Resources required.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and basic payroll system skills required.
  • Experience speaking to groups of people and presenting.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of labor law.
  • CPR certification within ninety days of employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to recognize areas for improving and problem solve.
  • Ability to attend to multiple tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and responsibilities to ensure compliance with established deadlines and protocols.
  • Advanced working knowledge of computer programs including all Microsoft Office programs and the ability to trouble shoot and train in those areas.
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with people from a wide diversity of social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds is necessary.
  • Ability to utilize telephones, computer terminals, fax machines, and copiers is required.
  • Must have reliable transportation and vehicle insurance.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must be willing to submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check if requested.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • A pre-employment background investigation and drug screening are required.
  • Must be willing to participate company random drug screening.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Prolonged sitting or standing may be required. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination normally associated with administrative duties in a health center office setting will be performed on a repetitive basis. This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking. The ability to sustain moderate physical activity, handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day is expected. Working under stressful conditions as well as irregular hours may be required.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
