Human Resources Generalist

This is an in-office position located in downtown Milwaukee, WI.
Position Summary
The HR Generalist is responsible for managing the full-cycle recruitment process while supporting a broad range of human resources functions. This role partners with leadership to attract, hire, and retain top talent while ensuring HR programs, policies, and procedures are effectively administered. The position serves as a key resource for employees and managers on recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance matters. This position reports to the HR Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition
  • Manage the full-cycle recruiting process including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring candidates.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruiting strategies.
  • Draft and post job descriptions and job advertisements.
  • Review resumes, conduct initial candidate screenings, and coordinate interviews.
  • Extend job offers and manage the pre-employment process including background checks and onboarding.
  • Track recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill and candidate pipeline effectiveness.
  • Maintain relationships with job boards, recruitment vendors, and community partners.
HR Generalist Duties
  • Assist with the administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Support employee relations matters by providing guidance to employees and managers.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries.
  • Support performance management processes and employee development initiatives.
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits, and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives that support organizational goals.
Compliance & Administration
  • Ensure compliance with EEO, ADA, FMLA, and other employment regulations.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records and recruiting documentation.
  • Assist with I-9 verification and employment eligibility compliance.
  • Support internal HR communications and employee engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in human resources and/or corporate recruiting.
  • Experience managing full-cycle recruiting.
  • Experience in multi-state employment environments.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
