Human Resources Generalist

The HR Generalist provides dedicated local support to people leaders, helping them manage their teams effectively while serving as a role model for the Valmet Leadership Principles. This position plays a key role in promoting consistency, fairness, and compliance across all HR practices. In addition to supporting and executing a wide range of global and local HR processes and initiatives, ensuring alignment with company standards, and contributing to exceptional employee experience.

In this role, the HR Generalist manages essential employee lifecycle activities, including preparing employment contracts, overseeing onboard and job changes, administering leaves of absence, drafting warnings, and preparing termination letters. The position ensures that each step of the employee lifecycle is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with internal policies and legal requirements. Will support local workshops and required to travel 15-25%.

This position is located at our North America headquarters in Norcross, GA with work scheduling around a hybrid 3 days in office routine.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or possesses equivalent work experience. The role requires at least five years of experience in an HR generalist capacity, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment, along with hands-on experience supporting employee relations, HR processes, and full lifecycle administration. Success in this position requires the ability to collaborate with leaders and employees across multiple functions, supported by effective communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Familiarity with union or works council environments is considered an advantage. A solid understanding of employment laws and compliance requirements is essential, as is a high level of attention to detail, integrity, and a strong commitment to confidentiality.

This role requires effective communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to build trusted partnerships across the organization. As part of the People Operations team, the HR Generalist contributes to ongoing improvement efforts and actively supports global and regional HR initiatives that enhance leadership capability, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
