The Human Resources (HR) Manager will serve as a strategic business partner to the entire organization, acting as a subject matter expert in many areas of HR, specifically recruiting, training and internal communications. This person will also participate in payroll, benefits, record-keeping, onboarding, offboarding, employee (host) relations and special projects that are assigned by park leadership.We are currently looking for a:
Roles & Responsibilities:
Supervisory Duties:
Manage all aspects of the HR team and any other assigned departments
Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Water Country’s core values
Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all hosts throughout the park
Manage and control all financial aspects of assigned departments while maximizing revenue and cost savings opportunities; maintain constant vigilance over departmental labor budgets
Act as a strategic visionary to implement measures that will favorably impact process, people, and/or profit
Ensure compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures to create a safe and productive environment for colleagues and guests.
Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all HR positions and backfill these positions when needed
Ensure that all required meal breaks and schedules follow New Hampshire law
Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities
Departmental Duties:
Manage all activities related to the employment life cycle for Water Country
Ensure strict compliance of all federal, state, and local employment laws and company- established policies and procedures
Manage all aspects of the staffing process, including recruiting, job requisitions, interviewing, hiring and onboarding
Lead Water Country’s host orientation program
Investigate host relations issues and bring them to resolution.
Advise Park leadership and hosts in the areas of coaching , discipline, benefits information, paid time off, and retirement plans.
Manage the timely completion of HR paperwork , host transactions, compensation adjustments, and terminations
Periodically a udit HRIS data to ensure continued data integrity
Participate in payroll and timekeeping closing activities, as needed
Actively develop , plan , and execute host appreciation and engagement events
Be available for hosts to express concerns or share feedback while maintaining composure and confidentiality
Provide guidance to leadership team on the best practices regarding host disciplinary matters and oversee escalated host disciplinary meetings
Execute voluntary and involuntary terminations, as needed
Recruit new hosts through job posting platforms, social media channels, flyers, high school and college job fairs, and any other innovative methods
Identify hiring needs and oversee the entire process , including the posting of requisitions, scheduling and conducting interviews, running background checks, processing I - 9 verifications, collecting child labor certificates when applicable, ensuring completion of onboarding, and scheduling new host orientations
Lead all learning initiatives for the park and ensure that all relevant training data is captured in the Workday Learning module
Facilitate and manage summer work and travel international student and program
Monitor employment practices throughout all departments to ensure compliance with corporate policies and legal regulations
Maintain proper uniform inventory levels and manage distribution to hosts
Perform copying, filing and various other administrative duties
All other duties assigned by leadership
J - 1 International Student Responsibilities:
Water Country hires 40 hosts annually as part of the Exchange Visitor (J-1) Program. This position will also involve day-to-day management of the summer international exchange program. Duties may include:
Oversee the execution of the J-1 student program
Assist with new international student orientation sessions
Welcome new arrivals and help get them checked in and moved into housing
Coordinate housing and transportation with third-party business partners
Assist students with Social Security paperwork and opening new bank accounts
Transport J - 1 students to approved destinations, when needed
Assist with addressing any concerns the students may have
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Management or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience in theme park industry, hospitality, tourism, or entertainment highly desired
3+ years of previous work experience in an HR or management role
Prior experience in Recruitment, Leadership and Training & Development are preferred, but not required .
Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with New Hampshire Labor Laws
Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to frequently work hours that extend beyond 9 AM to 5 PM during the operating season
Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner
Ability to exude unwavering professionalism toward guests, hosts , management and other human resources contacts
Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive host data
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively with a wide range of diverse personnel and guests
Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point
Knowledge of Canva, Workday, Quinyx , Forms or PowerBI , a plus
Experience analyzing and reacting to trends
Ability to use office technology and equipment, such as PC, software, and copier
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time , while using a computer
Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time throughout the workday
Ability to occasionally stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objec ts weighing 20 pounds or more
Working Conditions:
This role will be primarily based in an office setting with some interaction with other outdoor park locations
Some exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust , rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions
Subject to frequent interruptions, constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments
