About Us

The Mental Wellness Center works with thousands of people every year to improve and maintain mental wellness. Our community-based nonprofit organization specializes in helping individuals in three ways:

 We help adults with mental health disabilities meet critical and basic needs as a foundation for their wellness;

 We offer courses and activities for teens and adults to learn and practice self- management skills for better self-regulation; and

 We educate youth, families, and community groups about mental health so that we can take better care of ourselves individually and as a community.

New Opportunity

This is a new full time position (30- 40 hours per week, negotiable) at the Mental Wellness Center and represents an opportunity to join a senior management team where you will build on our strong foundation and implement comprehensive human resource systems within the organization. We anticipate that after a period of onboarding and established staff connections that this position could become a flexible schedule position.

Core Position Tasks

 Coordinate recruitment process from advertising thru hiring and supporting managers through the comprehensive onboarding process.

 Ensures that all hiring activities follow legal and company standards.

 Maintain accurate and centralized employee files and regulatory required documentation.

 Manage the employee benefits program.

 Administer payroll of the company.

 Evaluate the need and implement appropriate electronic HR systems.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance of company and government contract policies.

 Assist company administration and managers with employee relation and management issues.

 Identify, coordinate and track employee training, annual performance reviews and compensation.

 Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies, practices and procedures that create and maintain a positive employee relations environment.

 Conducts investigations into complaints of discrimination or harassment, facilitates resolution of employee relations issues.

 Conduct employee exit interviews.

 Leads Employee Engagement efforts in the planning and coordination of company events.

Essential Skills

 Strong knowledge of human resources best practices, programs, and regulations.

 Communicate fluently in English (verbal, written, listening, and presentation) required. Spanish language skills a plus but not required.

 Demonstrate excellent stewardship and relationship building/management skills.

 Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor.

 Demonstrate a high level of organizational and time management skills.

 Ability to juggle competing priorities, and to create and implement project plans from start to completion.

 Demonstrate outstanding judgment, confidentiality and mature business skills with the ability to establish a strong rapport with senior management.

Educational and Professional Experience Requirements

 Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Human Resources Certificate preferred.

 5+ years of progressive responsibility and experience in a Human Resources role.

 Recruiting for all levels.

 Valid California Driver’s License and ability to be insured under MWC insurance program.
