We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Human Resources Supervisor to lead key HR functions and support the dedicated workforce at the secure care facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Six years of human resources experience; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of human resources experience; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus three years of human resources experience; OR

An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of human resources experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Designation as a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Supervise Human Resources Specialists, Analysts, and administrative staff, ensuring efficient and compliant HR operations at Jetson Center for Youth – East Baton Rouge.

  • Oversee employee administration, payroll, benefits, retirement, and staffing functions, including the preparation and entry of personnel actions such as promotions, reallocations, appointments, and other transactions.

  • Support recruitment and hiring by coordinating job postings, applicant screening, interviews, onboarding, medical exams, and drug screenings, while ensuring accurate and timely communication with candidates and hiring managers.

  • Manage timekeeping and attendance processes, ensuring proper documentation, compliance with agency policy, and accurate application of FLSA and Civil Service rules.

  • Ensure employees receive accurate information regarding health insurance, retirement options, and related benefits, and serve as a liaison with OGB, LASERS, TRSL, and other providers.

  • Oversee the administration of the Diana Screening process, personnel file creation and maintenance, and the secure storage and organization of HR records.

  • Review LaGov HCM reports to audit entries and ensure accuracy and compliance across HR functions.

  • Supervise staff responsible for administering FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and Return-to-Work programs, ensuring adherence to federal regulations and agency policy.

  • Provide guidance on classification and compensation matters, including position allocation recommendations and interpretation of Civil Service pay rules.

  • Perform related duties as assigned to support HR operations and departmental goals.
