Sciences Faculty Group at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar invites applications for an Instructor position, to begin Fall 2026. The position primarily involves teaching introductory undergraduate mathematics courses such as Precalculus, Differential Calculus and Integral Calculus to students pursuing degrees in Biological Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Science and Information Systems.
Responsibilities for the Instructor position at CMUQ will be to teach or support six courses per academic year in addition to basic departmental service. Depending on the needs of the department, one or two courses may be replaced by teaching summer courses or other service expectations.
Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar operates in concert with several other American and European branch campuses under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation’s Education City. The branch campus closely follows the admissions requirements and English language curriculum of the home campus, which awards all degrees. The several thousand students in Education City students are a broad mix of nationalities, but primarily from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. CMUQ’s faculty is a mix of professionals hired specifically to the campus and seconded faculty from the main campus. CMUQ’s primary focus is undergraduate education in Business Administration, Biological Sciences, Computer Science and Information Systems.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have M. Sc. in Mathematics or a closely related discipline and demonstrate a potential for excellence in classroom teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with sustained demonstrated excellence in teaching who have the potential to contribute to educational initiatives in the mathematical sciences group and across the University.
