IT Officer

Role Purpose

Implementation of a single country project or programme funded by British Council To provide the IT support to BC staff to ensure that the IT services meet operational needs, corporate standards and service level agreements.

Main Accountabilities But Not Limited To The Following

Computers, servers, and infrastructure

  • Provide help desk support for BC staff (hardware, software, and peripherals).
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity problems.
  • Maintain wiring of users desks and organizing cables of network cabinets and desks.
  • Apply a regular cleaning plan of IT devices.

Inventory System

  • Maintain the inventory system updated and keep tracking of items input and output.
  • Report the stock status of consumables and spare devices to IT Manager.

Procurement

  • Provide technical specifications of IT items.
  • Follow up the paper cycle of procurement to ensure that the good is received and payment is settled.
  • Test new purchased items or repaired items.

Global Service Desk ‘’GSD’’, and Service-Now

  • Respond, update, and track incident assigned througn Service-Now Web application.
  • Guide the users report incidents to GSD as the first-line supoort provider.

Meeting rooms and reception screens

  • Perform regular check on IT devices and services inside each meeting rooms.
  • Maintain screen cables and connectivity.

Teaching Center support

  • Ensure the projectors, Interactive Board (IWB), and othe IT equipment in the classrooms are operational for the teaching staff.
  • Contribute to the dedicated IT support provided the Teaching Center staffroom and classrooms according to a shift based schedule.

Compliance

  • Support the IT Manager and other IT Officers to make sure that the Council’s IT policies and standards are adhered to.
  • Assist with the repair and disposal of computer equipment and storage of spares in line with Council standards

Requirements Of The Role

  • First degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Relevant IT certificate
  • Fluent in English and Arabic - Spoken and Written
  • At least 2 years of IT experience.
  • Network cabling and devices
  • Help desk
  • Windows 10
  • Microsoft office applications
  • Audi-visual systems
  • Firewalls administration

Desirable

  • Windows 11
  • Server administration
  • Database management

Requirements

Please note that candidates must have the pre-existing, legal right to work in Egypt.
