We are seeking a highly skilled professional with a robust background in business analysis, a solid foundation in finance, and the capability to proficiently gather, document requirements, and meet our business reporting needs, all fueled by a creative and analytics-focused mindset. This role will assist us in designing and integrating comprehensive data analytics and reporting solutions. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst should showcase specialized expertise in the Power BI platform and development methodologies, with the ability to actively contribute to the strategic development of Power BI reports, applications, and data visualizations across various programs.

Development

  • You have the knowledge to design and develop data analytics visualizations enabled by Microsoft Power BI reports and Dashboards (Operational, Strategic & Analytical) including data set ingestion and transformation, Data Modeling, Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) using the appropriate report templates depicting status of key performance indicators (KPIs) and other important business metrics for an organization to make data driven decisions
  • You can work with cross-functional teams to gather and document reporting requirements to meet business needs
  • You can build data models, technical and functional documentation with business partners
  • You can translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement the required reports and dashboards, created from potentially multiple data sources
  • You know how to transition developed reports and dashboards to interactive/automated dashboards using Power BI
  • You can provide support as required to ensure the availability and optimal performance of developed reports and dashboards for both external and internal users
  • You ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented
  • You can design and implement technology best practices, guidelines, and repeatable processes
  • You have experience in creating reports, dashboards using Power BI Desktop and deployment to Power BI services
  • You can extract and analyze data using Power Query, PivotTable, MS Excel, Power BI and SSAS
  • You know how to design, develop, update, and optimize Power BI dashboards, reports and scorecards to meet business requirements
  • You can design, publish, and maintain Power BI semantic models with many interrelated tables connected

Basic Function:

  • You can create analytical solutions (reports, dashboards and visualizations) that deliver actionable information to business leaders
  • You are highly motivated and passionate Data Analytics and BI Developer, with some competencies in data modelling and data analytics. You will help us drive internal initiatives on the Microsoft Azure Data Platform.
  • Added bonus if you have strong knowledge within the Power BI, Microsoft Azure Data Platform, within the Energy, Utilities, or Construction / Fabrication industries

Responsibilities:

  • You understand business areas overall data sources, IT and business priorities and success measures/KPIs
  • You can design, developing and maintaining business intelligence solutions, based on Power BI and other Azure tools
  • You’re able to use analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports
  • You can ensure that solution exhibits high levels of performance, security, scalability maintainability, appropriate reusability, and reliability upon deployment
  • You can maintain technical skills and knowledge, keeping up to date with market trends and competitive insights

Professional:

  • Experience: 5+ years of data analytics experience including success with development using the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack. 4+ years of success in in data preparation, data gateway and data warehousing projects

  • Problem Solving: Ability to solve customer problems through cloud technologies

Compensation

The initial starting annual compensation will range from $107,300 to $123,400 based on experience and qualifications.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: BS or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or another quant-focused field or 6+ years of industry experience
  • Year of Experience: 5+ years of data analytics experience including success with development using the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack. 4+ years of success in in data preparation, data gateway and data warehousing projects
  • Licenses/Certification: Professional certification within IT, Power BI/Business intelligence, or Data Management/Science/Analytics

Specific Skills and Knowledge

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Development with the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack (Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS). 4 years
  • Database experience, with a focus on SQL. 4 years
  • Data warehouse: 3 years
  • Knowledge on Tabular, Cubes, DAX, Measures
  • Experience in business analysis or data analysis
  • Experience with financial analysis, statistical tools, and other analytical skills
  • Experience in process / workflow documentation and ability to evaluate business processes and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Azure BI offerings (like Azure data factory, Power BI, Synapse, Machine learning) or equivalent technology

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Normal works hours are 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional time may be required during heavy workloads or to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for long periods of time, ability to communicate verbally, and in writing, and ability to handle long periods of screen time.
