IT System Administrator

Position Summary:

The IT System Administrator is responsible for maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization environments. This role involves managing infrastructure performance, troubleshooting issues, implementing security measures, and ensuring that IT systems meet business needs and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Server & Infrastructure Management

• Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows/Linux).
• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies.
• Administer virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Monitor system performance and ensure high availability of IT services.
• Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.

2. Network Administration

• Maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Manage IP addressing, VPNs, and remote connectivity.
• Coordinate with vendors for network equipment and services.

3. Security & Compliance

• Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures (firewalls, antivirus, endpoint protection).
• Ensure compliance with company IT policies and data protection standards.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

4. User & System Support

• Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support for system-related issues.
• Create and maintain system documentation and SOPs.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control.

5. Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
• Test and verify data recovery procedures regularly.

6. Cloud & SaaS Administration (if applicable)

• Manage cloud infrastructure (Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, or Google Workspace).
• Integrate cloud services with on-premises systems.

7. Asset & License Management

• Track IT hardware and software inventory.
• Ensure valid licensing for all systems and applications.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a System Administrator or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Linux, and virtualization technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and File/Print Services.
• Familiarity with firewall management, VPN configuration, and network security principles.
• Experience with backup solutions (Veeam, Acronis, etc.) and monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.).
• Cloud experience with Microsoft 365 / Azure / AWS is an advantage.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, CompTIA Server+, VMware VCP) preferred.
