The Joinery Production Detailer is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed shop drawings, cutting lists, and production documentation for bespoke and batch joinery projects. The role bridges design, production, and installation, ensuring all joinery components are clearly detailed, buildable, and compliant with specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Detailing & Documentation
- Produce detailed joinery shop drawings for manufacture using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, or similar).
- Prepare cutting lists, material schedules, and hardware specifications.
- Interpret architectural drawings, interior design details, and specifications.
- Ensure drawings reflect accurate dimensions, tolerances, finishes, and construction methods.
- Revise drawings as required based on site conditions, client changes, or production feedback.
Production Coordination
- Liaise closely with production, CNC operators, and workshop teams to ensure drawings are practical and efficient for manufacture.
- Resolve technical issues prior to production to minimize errors and rework.
- Support CNC programming where required (depending on company setup).
- Assist in value engineering and material optimization.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, industry best practices, and relevant codes.
- Maintain drawing version control and document management.
- Identify and flag potential design or constructability issues early.
Communication & Collaboration
- Coordinate with project managers, designers, estimators, and installers.
- Attend project meetings when required.
- Provide technical support during production and installation phases.
Required Skills & ExperienceTechnical Skills
- Strong proficiency in joinery detailing and construction methods.
- Advanced CAD skills (AutoCAD essential; 3D joinery software preferred).
- Solid understanding of materials: timber, boards, laminates, veneers, hardware, and finishes.
- Knowledge of CNC manufacturing processes is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and interior design drawings.
Experience
- 3+ years’ experience in joinery detailing, cabinet making, or production drafting.
- Experience in bespoke, high-end, or commercial joinery preferred.
