Position Title: Junior Cost Control Engineer

Job Purpose:
Assist in monitoring, tracking, and controlling project costs to ensure they remain within the approved budget. Support senior cost control staff in cost reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis for construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Monitoring & Tracking
- Assist in monitoring project expenditures against approved budgets.
- Track actual costs vs. committed costs for labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Ensure all costs are properly recorded in the cost control system.
2. Budget & Forecast Support
- Support in preparing and updating project cost budgets.
- Assist in preparing monthly cost forecasts based on project progress and changes.
- Provide input for budget revisions following approved change orders.
3. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare periodic cost control reports for internal and client review.
- Maintain cost-related records, logs, and documentation for audits and reference.
- Support in developing cash flow projections and earned value analysis (EVA) reports.
4. Variance Analysis
- Identify and report cost deviations from the budget.
- Assist in analyzing the reasons for cost variances and suggest corrective actions.
5. Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with project managers, procurement, planning, and finance teams to gather cost data.
- Coordinate with site teams for updates on material usage, work progress, and resource deployment.
6. Compliance & Procedures
- Ensure cost control activities follow company policies and procedures.
- Assist in implementing best practices for cost management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years’ experience in cost control or project controls in construction/contracting.
- Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of cost control processes and construction project lifecycles.
- Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables) and basic understanding of cost control software (e.g., Primavera, ERP systems).
- Understanding of BOQ, contracts, and payment applications.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Accuracy of cost reporting and forecasting.
- Timeliness of cost data submission.
- Reduction in cost variances through early detection and action.
