The Kitchen Helper assists chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation, cleaning, and basic kitchen tasks to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations. This role is ideal for entry-level staff who support the culinary team while maintaining hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
  • Support chefs and cooks in preparing dishes and assembling ingredients
  • Wash, sanitize, and organize kitchen utensils, equipment, and workstations
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen and storage areas
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating stock and ingredients
  • Dispose of kitchen waste and follow proper sanitation procedures
  • Follow instructions from chefs and senior kitchen staff
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations

Qualifications

  • No formal education required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous kitchen or food service experience is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and hygiene practices

  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
  • Attention to cleanliness and detail
  • Teamwork and good communication skills
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Lift and carry up to 25–30 lbs
  • Work in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments
