Role description

Role Overview

We are looking for a ServiceNow Portal Developer with 5+ years of experience in ServiceNow platform development and strong hands-on expertise in UI development and ServiceNow Service Portal / Employee Center portal customization. The ideal candidate should have experience designing and building user-friendly portals, widgets, and custom UI components within ServiceNow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and customize ServiceNow Service Portal / Employee Center portals to deliver intuitive and user-friendly experiences.
  • Develop and maintain custom widgets, themes, pages, and portal components.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and developers to translate requirements into scalable UI solutions.
  • Customize and enhance portal user journeys, forms, and catalog experiences.
  • Implement responsive UI components ensuring compatibility across devices and browsers.
  • Integrate portal components with backend ServiceNow functionality using APIs, Script Includes, and Glide APIs.
  • Optimize portal performance and usability.
  • Collaborate with functional teams in implementing HRSD or ITSM solutions.
  • Support portal enhancements, defect resolution, and production deployments.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and estimations.
  • Follow ServiceNow best practices and development standards.

Required Technical Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of ServiceNow development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience in ServiceNow Service Portal development.
  • Expertise in:
    • Custom widget development
    • Portal themes & branding
    • Portal page customization
    • AngularJS (Service Portal framework)
    • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
    • Bootstrap framework
  • Experience working with:
    • Client Scripts
    • UI Scripts
    • Script Includes
    • Glide APIs
    • REST/SOAP integrations
  • Experience building catalog items and portal-based request experiences.
  • Good understanding of ServiceNow platform architecture.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology.

Good to Have Skills

  • Experience in ServiceNow HRSD implementation or support.
  • Exposure to Employee Center / Employee Center Pro portals.
  • Experience in Flow Designer and workflow customization.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and UI/UX best practices.
  • Experience in performance optimization and portal analytics.
  • ServiceNow CSA or CAD certification is a plus.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

Experience & Qualification

  • Experience: 5+ years in ServiceNow development with portal experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
