Legal and Compliance Manager

Istanbul, Turkey

Legal and Compliance Manager provides effective legal counselling to assigned business functions or teams within a country BF/BU or Corporate function, acting as a legal advisor and business partner, negotiating contracts, managing litigation and providing counselling on substantive area legal issues; supports, enables and drives activities and effective implementation of key Programs supporting our business strategies by providing leadership for major initiatives and global projects to manage compliance and reputation risks, acts independently in complex legal matters and transactions;

Major Accountabilities

Under the direction of leadership and in close collaboration with the Head of Legal and Compliance and Representatives from other Functions, the Legal and Compliance Manager has the following responsibilities:

  • Act as a business partner in all activities relating to the contractual negotiations and company’s statutory obligations by substantiating recommendations and providing legal advice and assistance to the Head Legal and Compliance.
  • Draft basic transactions and contracts independently.
  • Advise on, and assists management decision-making regarding, contract and other risks relating to business activities and provides potential solutions.
  • Manage disputes and litigation and/or investigations.
  • Manage relationships and monitors the work of outside counsel and legal experts.
  • Manage and support activities regarding compliance issues, such as anti-trust and regulatory.
  • Partner and liaise with external local counsels.
  • Participate in the development, recommendation and implementation of legal policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Handle compliance monitoring activities.
  • Acts as the main point of contact in all compliance related matters.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Law school graduate & bar qualification/licensed attorney
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Turkish
  • 6-10 years post qualification legal and compliance experience required: ideally gained within a healthcare / pharmaceutical environment.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceuticals or healthcare industry is desirable.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills; together with a high ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Ability to analyse complex legal and compliance issues.
  • Ability to question and improve the status quo.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage a wide ranging workload.
  • Demonstrate professional & culturally sensitive work ethics
  • Change agility, resilience and result-oriented mentality
