Come and join our CGCC Library team! This Library Specialist position at the Chandler Gilbert Community College Library performs a range of technical and public services tasks at the paraprofessional level in an academic library. The person in this position will have variety in their daily work including coordinating with vendors to obtain library materials; working with Library Faculty on collection development requests, collection statistics, and budget tracking; reconciling invoices and updating records; creating displays showcasing new purchases; and interacting with students including at points of service and campus events. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
In this position, paraprofessional staff must strive for a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, and integrity. Staff support a robust, unbiased academic experience for all students, faculty, and staff in their performance of job duties.
30% - Assists in identifying, ordering, and processing purchases of physical and electronic library materials such as books, DVDs, etc. using multiple vendor platforms
25% - Performs basic cataloging and electronic resource record management using a library services platform.
15% - Organizes and/or maintains purchasing records and budget expenditures according to established procedures
15% - Assists patrons with library services and policies; including assisting with circulation support duties
10 % - Assists in electronic database/software subscription purchases including contract life-cycle management procedures
5% - Creates new book displays and other duties as assigned
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one year of experience in library support services such as as library information resources, circulation services and equipment coordination.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered
1. In-person customer service experience in an educational and/or public sector setting and/or related commercial/retail work setting (bookstore, etc.)
2. Paraprofessional library experience using a library services platform (such as ExLibris, Polaris, Symphony, etc.) in one or more of the following technical and public access functional areas: Acquisitions, Cataloguing, Circulation, Debt management, Interlibrary loans, Reports
3. Experience processing library materials (books, DVDs, serials, electronic resources)
4. Experience budget monitoring and tracking as well as records management related to purchasing
5. Experience using computer skills (emailing, downloading, file attachment and maintenance), Google Drive, Microsoft Office, internet browsers, and/or office technology (printers/scanners)
6. Experience working with a multicultural and an economically mixed populations
7. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years.
**** Experience within other community college systems or higher education institutions is valued and may be considered in addition to MCCCD experience. External candidates are encouraged to apply.
