Maintenance Coordinator
The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for managing the efficient and effective use of personnel, materials, and machine downtime to maintain production equipment availability and performance at satisfactory levels. This role executes the critical planning, scheduling, coordinating, and reporting of preventative maintenance and repair work orders to ensure operational effectiveness. Responsibilities include providing superior maintenance, clerical and administrative planning services to internal and external customers, with a focus on maintenance technical personnel assigned to operational areas within the manufacturing facility. Manage the monthly maintenance budget, plans work orders or facility repairs, and performs plant and/or maintenance department day-to-day reviews to ensure that the facility is operating reliably and safely. Act as a liaison between maintenance and production to effectively schedule and coordinate planned maintenance work.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain backlog of work orders and move work orders to the ready-to-schedule phase, and review technician feedback upon work completion
- Manage work order priority, develop job plans, define parts and materials and engage the proper resources to develop a safe, effective and efficient work control plan
- Coordinate outage planning activities such as scope identification and control, scheduling, risk assessments, execution and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with Production Superintendent to ensure that plans and schedules are aligned based on the availability of equipment to support the plant operations
- Incorporate safety requirements and JHA’s (Job Hazard Analysis) for all work orders and jobs to support and drive safe work behaviors
- Oversee the end-to-end planning and execution of work orders and resolve any work order issues
- Maintain real-time equipment bill of materials in J.D. Edwards CMMS software, including updating parts that have changed and new equipment
- Schedule preventive maintenance on all equipment in the plant and surrounding areas and maintain accurate records of work completed in J.D. Edwards CMMS software
- Compile work order packets incorporating work documentation from technicians to analyze the number of man-hours and resources needed to close out the work order
- Utilize J.D. Edwards CMMS to lead technicians in reliability efforts of precision, predictive, and preventive maintenance for annual budget planning
Screen and approve work orders in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for asset area to ensure job priority and efficient utilization of maintenance resources
- Manage and track maintenance budget, identify variances, and provide explanations to justify budget deviations
- Monitor maintenance schedules to ensure there is no conflict with operation or production schedules (e.g. downtime on a machine)
- Prioritize non-emergency and break-in work order requests to approve and reject, review complete work orders, and produce schedule for the next day/week
- Identify parts required for necessary maintenance efforts (preventative maintenance, machine repairs, etc.) and plan/budget for the acquisition of required parts
- Originate, track, and manage preventative maintenance tasks in the CMMS (JD Edwards)
- Maintain planned work order backlog according to facility guidelines and utilize backlog to schedule daily and weekly work list
- Screen and approve all work orders for the operating department to ensure coding accuracy and symptoms are accurately described
- Plan and schedule any installation and startup of new equipment to minimize the disruption of normal operations
- Develop hands-on knowledge and expertise of production equipment, parts, functions and processes through observation and engaging with employees on the production floor
