1. Purpose
Responsible for conducting legal activities in terms of litigation management, recovery of bad debts, proper record keeping, processing and renewal of contracts, etc.
2. Key Responsibilities
Operational
- Keep up to date with all statutory and legal matters having a bearing on the company and its operations and provide support in interpretation of laws regarding all aspects of business
- Ensure efficient litigation management of all cases, involving management of external litigation partners, filing of cases, monitoring their progress, etc.
- Ensure litigation on cases involving recoveries of outstanding amounts/ bad debts for the organization
- Handle cases involving customer complaints and claims, along with relevant departments
- Review all standard document templates of the Company (i.e. vendor contracts, client contracts, employee contracts, service / channel partner contracts etc.) in light of any changes in the law or its interpretation
- Conduct the timely renewal of all agreements/ contracts with vendors, suppliers, channel partners, customers, etc.
- Undertake the necessary activities related to the review of corporate trademarks, cases pertaining to IPR, copyright protection and trademark protection
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of correspondence with legal authorities, legal notifications and documentation as per the defined guidelines
- Provide directions for the preparation of templates for fact sheets, contracts and agreements and their circulation to all the regional teams
- Provide directions for periodic submission of documentation (as required by the Stock Exchanges/ Lawyers and any other authorities for any legal activities)
- Monitor the maintenance of the central MIS database of records of agreements, contracts and other legal documents of organizational activities in all regions such as contracts with express sales associates (ESAs), regional service partners (RSPs), franchise collection centers (FCCs), customer contracts etc.
- Undertake handling of consumer complaints and legal notices to the company
- Provide directions and give approval for the preparation of board meeting agendas

- Provide direction, guidance and support to subordinates to help them discharge their duties effectively
