Overview
Overall Purpose of the Role:
Lead the manufacturing engineering function encompassing capital and process development projects, providing superior technical knowledge. Responsible for providing leadership to a team of Production Engineers. Responsible for installation, maintenance & improvement of production lines and ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
Implement and manage continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies & recommending changes in training, working practices and processes & even materials
Responsibilities
- Lead the production engineering department & drive functional excellence & best practices both through effectively managing the team and hands-on approach.
- Drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, production cycle times, process improvement, machine availability, etc. using lean techniques to remove waste

Identification & selection of alternate materials & processes through value analysis & value engineering

Selection of efficient processes & equipment for new products
- Develop product/material/process qualification & validation plans, protocols to ensure robust quality & consistency. Write/review validation plans and reports

Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department

Ensure accuracy of Production Engineering procedures and documentation

Root cause analysis using 8D approach to any production & process issues.
- Identify improvement opportunities and share with cross functional teams for joint review

Develop, implement, manage & report key performance indicators (KPIs) for the areas of responsibility. Ensure KPIs are met/exceeded including periodic reporting
- Make periodic progress update presentations to the management on department functions, achievements & plans.

Manage, Motivate & coach the team, including their training, development & appraisal

Consistently promote high standards through personal example
- Review, implement and update company records e.g. training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments

Hold responsibility for departmental budget (forecast & actual)

Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on manufacturing activities

Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained

Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
Qualifications
Qualifications:
-
B. E. /B Tech in electronics/mechanical/production with a 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably medical device or automotive.

Lean Six Sigma Black/Green Belt with proven projects is preferable.
Skills & Attributes:
-
A logical, rational & creative thinker with good communication & presentation skills
- Expert in PCBA processes & equipment including SMTA & Through Hole.
- Ability to critically evaluate and select manufacturing equipment & processes
- Experienced in New Product Introduction

Hands-on experience in conducting validations-IQ, OQ, PQ & write protocols & reports
- In depth knowledge and experience of PFMEA, and Lean Manufacturing techniques
- Conversant with industrial engineering activities like time & motion study, Plant layout, ergonomics, etc. Working knowledge of Auto CAD

Excellent Analytical and Problem-solving skills for root cause identification & corrective actions. Hands on in using Statistical tools. Working knowledge of Mini-Tab or similar tool preferred

Train people inside and outside own work group.

Ability to create departmental procedures, WIs & checklists for production & engineering team

Creative and innovative with an inclination towards automation, jigs & fixtures design

Develops and applies advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts in alignment with corporate engineering & other functions.

Experience of managing a team & should have a service mindset

Should have worked on ERP platforms preferably Navision or D365
