Job Purpose
To strategically manage the end-to-end procurement process of materials, components, and services required for elevator manufacturing and installation projects, ensuring cost efficiency, quality and timely availability
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and select vendors of elevator components (motors, controllers, safety gear, structural materials, etc.).
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Establish and maintain long-term relationships with key suppliers.
- Perform periodic vendor performance reviews and maintain approved vendor list.
- Forecast material requirements based on production schedules and project demands.
- Develop annual procurement plans and budgets in coordination with Production and Finance teams.
- Ensure timely availability of critical materials to avoid production downtime.
- Ensure proper documentation of purchase contracts, service agreements, and technical specifications.
- Work closely with Inventory / Store team to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Analyze and implement cost-saving initiatives and identify alternative sourcing options.
- Monitor purchase costs and help implement measures to achieve budgetary targets.
- Handle vendor-related discrepancies, quality issues, and claims.
- Lead and mentor the Purchase team (Executives / Assistants).
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Production, Store, Accounts, and Projects teams.
- Report regularly on procurement KPIs (lead time, cost savings, vendor performance, etc.).
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation & vendor management skills.
- Good analytical and decision-making ability.
- Strong knowledge of local & national vendor ecosystem for elevator components.
- Proficient in ERP systems (SAP / Tally / MS Dynamics or similar).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Team leadership and stakeholder management.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) / Business Management / Supply Chain Management.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Purchase & Procurement in Manufacturing Sector, preferably in Elevator, Electrical, Mechanical, or Heavy Engineering industry.
- Prior experience in handling high-value technical purchases is preferred.
