We are currently seeking experienced
Mechanical Safety Systems Site Engineer (m/f/d) Topside
to support the Site Management Topside Construction project, starting approx. April 2026, for an estimated duration till 2030.
This freelance role is onshore-based in Port Rashid, Dubai, operating on a Shiftsystem or with potential weekend assignments depending on operational requirements.
Responsibilities
As part of your role, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:
- Overseeing hydraulic and lifting equipment, including cranes, hoists, winches, hand lifts, and related systems, covering installation quality, testing, and commissioning.
- Overseeing fire and life safety systems (passive, active, and detection), including fire walls, doors, ceilings, flaps, ducts, detectors, extinguishers, sprinkler, foam, and inert gas systems.
- Reviewing documentation, monitoring installation progress, and supervising safety measures on site.
- Acting as the on-site contractor representative (CR) for lifting and fire protection disciplines.
- Reporting and following up on non-conformities (NC) and HSE issues, and tracking punch items using dedicated tools.
- Participating in ITP witness/hold points, testing activities, and HAT.
Requirements
We look forward to receiving your application if your profile matches most of the following requirements:
- A technical background, gained either through a university degree in engineering (Master’s/Dipl.-Ing.) or through a completed apprenticeship, technical qualification, or comparable professional training combined with relevant work experience
- Having several years of experience as a contractor representative (CR) on large-scale construction sites, preferably 5+ years.
- Having hands-on experience with installation and testing/commissioning of hydraulic lifting equipment and fire protection systems; operational experience is an advantage.
- Demonstrating solid knowledge of applicable standards and regulations (e.g. DIN, EN, offshore guidelines, workplace and fire safety regulations).
- Showing strong documentation skills and experience in non-conformity management.
- Being business-fluent in English.
- Having a permanent residence in Dubai or demonstrating willingness to relocate to Dubai for the duration of the project.
Nice to Have:
- Holding additional qualifications such as qualified construction engineer, fire protection technician, or building services technician.
- Having experience in QA/QC or inspection of lifting appliances.
- Being fluent in German and/or Arabic.
- Having prior experience in offshore or topside projects.
