Job Details

Responsibilities:

Review and process patient billing information, including insurance and self-pay accounts.

Submit medical claims to insurance carriers, Medicare, and Medicaid accurately and in a timely manner.

Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to services.

Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.

Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and rejections; submit appeals as needed.

Maintain accurate patient billing records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation for coding and billing purposes.

Assist in monthly reconciliation and reporting of billing activity.

Stay current on changes in medical billing codes, insurance requirements, and regulations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.

AAPC or AHIMA certification a plus.

Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management.

Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes.

Proficiency with EHR/EMR and billing software (experience with Athenahealth, Epic, or Cerner is a plus).

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.
