Job Description:

Currently, Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists of IL, a division of Midwest ENT Alliance, is looking for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist with A/R experience to join our busy medical practice. The AR and billing specialist will be responsible for undertaking a variety of financial and non-financial tasks to improve the revenue of the practice. Concentrating mostly in our insurance and patient's AR appeals and collections. Needs to be proficient in preparing error-free claims, submitting claims, posting insurance and patient payments, an expert on insurance and patients' AR appeals & denials, have knowledge and understanding of medical terminologies, ICD-10 coding, and CPT manual, knowledge in both government and private payers’ guidelines, familiar with various insurance plans. Billing Specialist Duties and Responsibilities:

• A/R: Follow up on balances, unpaid claims, appeals & denials within the set timeframe.
• Excellent knowledge in ICD-10 and CPT coding manual preferably ENT
• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software. Must have excellent knowledge in identifying and correcting coding errors
• Must be able to verify eligibility, benefits, claim status, and pre-authorizations/ referrals, appeals, and denials.
• Must be able to analyze explanation of benefits forms to review denial codes and make appropriate corrections.
• Insurance: Must possess knowledge in various payer's guidelines and policies for private and government insurances
• Must have outstanding knowledge in PPO, HMO, POS, Workers Compensation and SNF consolidated billing
• Should clearly communicate with patients about their benefits and financial responsibilities. Respond to the inquiries in a timely manner
• Demonstrate the ability to work well individually or in a team with minimum supervision
• Ability to multitask and follow instructions
• Maintain patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Ensure proper records handling

Billing Specialist Qualifications:

• Must have 1 year experience working on unpaid claims A/R appeals and denials
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of medical billing experience is a must; experience in ENT a plus
• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
• EClinicalWorks EMR experience is a plus
• Strong Customer skills to efficiently communicate with patients and insurance companies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organization and detailed oriented
• Self-motivated and self-directed. Able to work with minimal supervision
• Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
