MEP Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical)

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MEP Estimator / Quantity Surveyor with a mechanical background to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of relevant experience in the UAE, with a solid understanding of MEP works. Experience in fit-out projects will be considered an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) components of projects, with a primary focus on mechanical systems (HVAC, Firefighting, Plumbing).
  • Perform quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and prepare BOQ (Bill of Quantities) from drawings, specifications, and other tender documents.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather and verify pricing and materials information.
  • Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive pricing.
  • Prepare and submit tender documents and ensure compliance with client requirements.
  • Assist in cost control, variation analysis, and budget monitoring throughout project execution.
  • Track and evaluate project costs vs. budgeted costs and provide reports to management.
  • Support in value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare interim and final payment applications and liaise with clients and consultants for approvals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of UAE experience in MEP estimation and quantity surveying.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, particularly mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar).
  • Experience in interior fit-out or commercial/residential projects is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with UAE construction codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of local suppliers, market rates, and subcontractor ecosystem.
  • PMP or relevant certification is an advantage.
