Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Execution: The MEP Technician is responsible for planning and executing maintenance projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within budget to maintain system functionality.
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Addressing technical issues, troubleshooting system failures, and making critical decisions to ensure minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Working with engineers, maintenance staff, and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure seamless operations.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Providing guidance to junior technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
- Process Improvement and Innovation: Identifying opportunities for process optimization, proposing innovative solutions, and implementing best practices to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Technical or Customer-Facing Responsibilities: Engaging with clients, building occupants, or external vendors to address maintenance needs, provide technical support, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, building automation controls, and energy management systems.
- Educational Requirements: Associate degree or certification in HVAC, electrical systems, or a related field.
- Experience Level: 3+ years of experience in MEP maintenance, knowledge of building codes and regulations, and experience in commercial building maintenance.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, adaptability to changing environments, leadership qualities, and attention to detail.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of industry standards, safety protocols, energy conservation practices, and sustainability trends in building maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in large-scale commercial properties or industrial facilities.
- Holding certifications such as LEED, HVAC/R, or OSHA.
- Familiarity with IoT devices, smart building technologies, or BIM software.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing energy-saving initiatives or sustainable practices.
- Participation in industry training programs related to building maintenance.
- Additional proficiency in a foreign language for enhanced communication in diverse environments.
