Primary Lead Guide – Northern Blooms Montessori

Northern Blooms is looking for a Primary Lead Guide who is passionate about Montessori education and excited to help shape a growing school community. You’ll be part of a pioneering team working to build an authentic Montessori program that truly serves local families.

As the Lead Guide, you’ll support a cohesive classroom team, coordinate the curriculum, and handle the day-to-day flow of the classroom. You’ll draw on your understanding of children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to create a safe and engaging environment where children can thrive. Strong communication skills are important, as you’ll be connecting with children, guiding assistants, and partnering with families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide children ages 3–6 in a warm, respectful, and developmentally appropriate way
  • Partner with an assistant to develop and maintain an authentic Montessori classroom that reflects the diversity of our community.
  • Implement the Montessori curriculum, prepare and maintain materials, and create new materials as needed.
  • Collaborate with Commongrounds tenant-owners and serve as a representative of Northern Blooms in the larger community.
  • Model best practices and support the teaching team through coaching and collaboration.
  • Plan engaging individual and group activities that support social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Communicate regularly with families through conversations, written updates, progress reports, and conferences.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment.
  • Uphold all school policies and meet state licensing regulations.
  • Supervise assistants and volunteers to ensure high standards of safety, care, and consistency.
  • Participate in professional development and attend school events as part of the school community.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Deep understanding of Montessori philosophy and child development.
  • Montessori certification for ages 3–6 (AMI, AMS, or MACTE) or a strong interest in beginning training.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in a Montessori classroom.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and basic administrative skills.
  • Ability to work well with staff, families, children, and the board while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
  • Experience with childcare licensing is helpful.
  • Infant/child/adult CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to take frequent walks; use hands, tools, and classroom materials; kneel, bend, squat, and sit on the floor for extended periods.
  • Successful background check and completion of all required licensing training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
