Common Responsibilities and Duties

A Mother Teacher typically works with pre-primary or primary-grade students (like LKG, UKG, or Grade 1) and is responsible for the overall well-being and holistic development of the children in their class. Duties often include:

  • Curriculum & Lesson Planning: Developing and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum for cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Classroom Management: Creating a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment.
  • Teaching: Using interactive, play-based, and child-friendly teaching methods.
  • Assessment: Observing and assessing a child's growth and progress.
  • Parent Communication: Regularly communicating with parents/guardians about the child's progress and school activities.
  • Collaborating: Working with other teachers and staff.

Typical Qualifications

Qualifications can vary by school and location, but commonly include:

  • A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • A professional teaching qualification like a B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education), NTT (Nursery Teacher Training), or a diploma in Montessori/Early Childhood Education is often required or preferred.
