Position Overview
The Museum Events Unit Head is responsible for leading, planning, and executing all aspects of event management within the museum. This leadership role ensures the successful delivery of a diverse range of museum events, from small workshops to large-scale public gatherings, while aligning with the institution’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives. The Unit Head supervises the Events team, manages budgets and logistics, and fosters partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure memorable and impactful experiences for visitors and patrons.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the unit’s annual event strategy in alignment with the museum’s overall goals.

Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the Events team, delegating responsibilities and ensuring professional development.

Event Planning & Execution: Oversee the conceptualization, planning, and delivery of all museum events, including exhibitions, educational workshops, public programs, fundraising galas, and special ceremonies.

Budget Oversight: Prepare and manage the events budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources and compliance with institutional policies.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with museum departments, sponsors, community organizations, and vendors to create partnerships and enhance event offerings.

Marketing & Promotion: Work with the Communications team to promote events through various channels, ensuring maximum attendance and engagement.

Logistics Management: Coordinate all operational aspects of events, including scheduling, staffing, facilities, catering, security, and technical needs.

Evaluation & Reporting: Monitor event outcomes, gather feedback, and prepare reports to assess effectiveness and inform future planning.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to ensure the safety and success of all events.

Compliance: Ensure all events adhere to museum policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Hospitality, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in event planning and management, preferably in a cultural, nonprofit, or museum setting.

Proven leadership and team management experience.
