The MYP Chemistry Teacher will be responsible for inspiring students aged 13–15 to explore the nature of matter and chemical change through inquiry, experimentation, and conceptual understanding—aligned with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework. The teacher will design engaging, concept-based lessons that connect chemistry to real-world issues, encourage critical thinking, and promote scientific curiosity and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver inquiry-driven Chemistry lessons aligned with MYP 4 learning objectives.
  • Integrate global contexts, Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, and interdisciplinary connections into teaching.
  • Guide students in planning and conducting safe, accurate, and ethical scientific investigations.
  • Use MYP assessment criteria to evaluate student understanding and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Help students connect chemical principles to real-world applications such as sustainability, industry, and the environment.
  • Collaborate with the Science team to ensure curriculum coherence and consistent assessment practices.
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards and manage equipment and materials effectively.
  • Participate actively in professional development and contribute to the school’s ongoing MYP implementation.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field (Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering).
  • IB Category 1 Certificate in Science (preferred).

Experience

  • 3+ Years experience teaching Chemistry at the secondary school level.
  • 1+ Years experience teaching Science or Chemistry at the MYP

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong grasp of MYP philosophy and assessment methodology.
  • Ability to design engaging, hands-on, and concept-based Chemistry lessons.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to fostering scientific inquiry, ethical awareness, and environmental responsibility.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning tools.
