The Freedom Center, LLC operates addiction treatment programs with locations in Gaithersburg, Brookeville, and Buckeystown, MD. We service residents from the Mid-Atlantic area and throughout the nation. We treat individuals with various addiction types by offering a flexible and affordable solution while minimizing the disruption of daily life.
We are currently seeking Drivers to join our Transportation team.
The successful candidate(s) MUST be able to work either:
- PRN: As needed coverage for any day or time, including evenings and weekends.
The Driver is responsible for providing transportation services primarily for patients to and from assigned destinations in a safe and timely manner. Assist in the proper maintenance of all vehicles and vehicle maintenance log to ensure maximum vehicle safety. Additionally, the driver must have and maintain a clean driving record and be insurable under the company auto policy.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pre-employment screenings required: including national and state background screening, MVR, education verification, and drug & alcohol testing.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalency required, must be verifiable.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least three (3) years driving experience, required.
- Experience operating a large SUV or passenger van, preferred.
- One year experience providing transportation in a healthcare setting, preferred.
- Knowledge/experience working within substance abuse and treatment industry preferred.

PAY:
$18 to $19/hour, depending on experience, with opportunities for overtime and holiday premium pay.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- Valid and unrestricted Maryland Driver’s License. Provisional licenses are NOT acceptable.
- Safe driving record: Drivers must maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
- No drug- or alcohol-related violations, such as driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI), in the last five years.
- No major violations in the last three years.
- Minor moving violations and at-fault collisions (combined) in the last 3 years.
- MVR will be reviewed for applicable violations within the last 3-5 years based on carrier guidelines, e.g., speeding, DUI/DWI, drug offenses, at-fault accidents, moving violations, suspensions, etc.
- Insurable with our company auto insurance carrier, required.
- CPR/First Aid Certification
KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE:

- Safety sensitive position: must adhere to company’s drug and alcohol program.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Operating a motor vehicle such as a SUV or passenger van in transporting passengers to and from assigned destinations; assist passengers on boarding and leaving vehicle; and answer routine questions.
- Following an established route or schedule as assigned daily.
- Responsible for transporting new admissions, transfers, and discharges to designated location in a safe and timely manner, ensuring all personal belongings are in possession as well as required discharge or transport documentation.
- Responsible for transporting clients/patients to medical appointments, community meetings, or events, as well as pharmacy pick-ups and other duties. Maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Provides support to the Operations team when transportation duties are completed, including providing observation and supervision to clients.
- Maintaining records and logs on travel time, mileage, fuel purchases and passengers served.
- Taking vehicle to be serviced to a central servicing area for repairs and/or preventative maintenance, clean and wash vehicle, as necessary.
- Demonstrating knowledge of federal, state, and county traffic and motor vehicle regulations.
- Demonstrating knowledge of the geography of the county.
- Operating the assigned vehicle in the prescribed manner.
- Detecting improper functioning mechanical systems on the assigned vehicle.
- Making minor adjustments and to do minor servicing of automotive equipment.
- Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions.
- Serving others with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of the company Code of Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, gender, sex, disability or political affiliation.
- Performing related work as required.
