Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Driver

Job Summary
North America Taxi Inc. is seeking a professional, reliable, and customer-focused Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver to provide safe and timely transportation services at the taxi/sedan level.

The driver is responsible for transporting ambulatory passengers to and from medical appointments, pharmacies, hospitals, dialysis centers, rehabilitation facilities, and other approved destinations while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.

This position requires strict adherence to New York State DOT regulations, Medicaid/MAS transportation guidelines, and company policies.

✅ Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Transportation Services

  • Safely transport ambulatory passengers using a company-approved sedan vehicle.
  • Provide curb-to-curb service (assist passengers entering/exiting vehicle when necessary).
  • Follow assigned dispatch routes and schedules.
  • Ensure timely arrival and drop-off for appointments.
  • Maintain professional driving standards at all times.

Passenger Assistance

  • Assist elderly or disabled passengers as needed.
  • Provide respectful and courteous communication.
  • Ensure passengers are safely seated and seat belts are secured.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA awareness).

Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurately complete trip logs and required documentation.
  • Verify trip authorization through dispatch or transportation portal.
  • Collect signatures when required.
  • Report no-shows, cancellations, or service issues promptly.

Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance

  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Report maintenance issues immediately.
  • Keep vehicle clean and presentable inside and out.
  • Maintain valid registration, inspection, and insurance documentation in vehicle.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Follow all New York State traffic laws.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Comply with company drug/alcohol policy.
  • Attend required training sessions.

Qualifications

  • Valid New York State Driver’s License
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to use GPS and dispatch software
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor

Preferred:

  • Prior NEMT or taxi driving experience
  • Knowledge of Clinton, Essex, and Franklin County roadways

Work Environment

  • Flexible schedule (day, evening, and weekend shifts may be required)
  • Independent work setting
  • Interaction with elderly and medically vulnerable populations

Drivers are expected to:

  • Maintain 95%+ on-time performance
  • Demonstrate professionalism with all clients and medical facilities
  • Maintain clean vehicle condition
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
