Non Profit Bookkeeper

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken to record transactions accurately.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to ensure all accounts are balanced and discrepancies are promptly resolved.
  • Prepare and process journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable transactions in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to maintain financial integrity.
  • Assist with payroll processing, including tax filings and compliance with governmental accounting standards.
  • Support budgeting processes by tracking expenses and revenues against organizational budgets.
  • Generate detailed financial reports, including statements of financial position and income statements, for internal review and external reporting needs.

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms; experience with GAAP standards is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting practices, including fund accounting and governmental reporting requirements.
  • Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation efficiently.
  • Familiarity with double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger management.
  • Experience with financial concepts related to accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, tax compliance, and budget analysis.
  • Excellent understanding of technical accounting principles combined with strong attention to detail for accurate account analysis.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks such as 10 key typing for data entry and preparing comprehensive financial reports while adhering to deadlines.
