- Staff development: Develop and deliver orientation programs for new hires and provide ongoing training for all nursing staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Competency assessment: Conduct learning needs assessments, identify gaps in staff competence, and develop programs to address them.
- Curriculum development: Create and update educational materials to teach new concepts, equipment, treatments, and protocols, ensuring they are delivered effectively to busy clinical nurses.
- Leadership and mentorship: Mentor nurses, provide on-the-job guidance, and serve as a professional role model to foster a cohesive and skilled team.
- Program oversight: Oversee training programs, including residency programs, student rotations, and preceptor classes.
- Compliance: Ensure staff compliance with mandatory training and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration: Work with nursing leadership and other stakeholders to enhance the quality of patient care and support operational goals.
- Support for students: Facilitate the clinical education of nursing students and support the development of healthcare assistants.
- Bridging knowledge gaps: Help nurses transition to new or specialized areas, such as oncology, by providing fellowship programs and ensuring they are prepared for higher-acuity patients.
