Job Title: Pastry Chef

Job Summary:
The Pastry Chef is responsible for creating, developing, and producing high-quality pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods. This role requires creativity, precision, and consistency in taste, texture, and presentation. The Pastry Chef oversees all pastry operations, manages ingredients inventory, ensures hygiene and food safety compliance, and contributes to menu innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production & Preparation
- Prepare a wide variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods following standard recipes and specifications.
- Develop new pastry items and seasonal desserts to keep the menu innovative and appealing.
- Decorate pastries and desserts using different techniques and tools for aesthetic presentation.
- Menu Development
- Collaborate with management or head chef to design dessert menus that align with the brand’s concept and seasonal trends.
- Experiment with new recipes and flavors to introduce signature or themed creations.
- Quality Control
- Maintain consistency in taste, texture, and presentation across all pastry products.
- Conduct daily quality checks on ingredients and finished goods.
- Inventory & Cost Management
- Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed to minimize wastage and control food costs.
- Maintain accurate records of usage, wastage, and inventory.
- Team Supervision
- Train, mentor, and supervise junior pastry cooks or assistants.
- Ensure the team adheres to kitchen discipline, hygiene, and timing.
- Hygiene & Safety
- Comply with all food hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards as per local regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all pastry and storage areas.
- Collaboration
- Coordinate with kitchen, barista, and service teams to ensure smooth order flow and timely dessert service.
- Assist with special events, catering orders, and festive menu preparations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma or certification in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dessert trends, and plating design.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Creativity and passion for artisanal desserts and presentation.
- Knowledge of cost control, portioning, and inventory management.
- Ability to lead a small team and work efficiently under pressure.
