Payment Processing Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our finance and human resources teams. In this role, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees. Your expertise in payroll management systems and accounting software will be essential to maintaining compliance, processing data entry, and supporting benefits administration. Duties

  • Process payroll using advanced payroll management systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, or Ceridian, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Perform detailed data entry for employee hours, wages, deductions, and benefits in various financial software platforms including QuickBooks and other accounting tools
  • Reconcile accounts related to payroll, benefits, taxes, and general ledger entries to ensure consistency and compliance with financial standards
  • Manage benefits administration tasks such as enrollment, changes, and compliance reporting
  • Conduct account reconciliation activities focusing on payroll-related accounts like accounts payable/receivable and general ledger accounts
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting procedures
  • Maintain meticulous records of payroll transactions, tax filings, and audit documentation while adhering to confidentiality standards
  • Support human resources functions by assisting with HRIS updates and employee data management

Experience

  • Proven experience in payroll management within a corporate or nonprofit environment using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex or Kronos
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
  • Familiarity with financial concepts related to benefits administration, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices
  • Proficiency in using accounting software like QuickBooks or similar platforms for bookkeeping and financial analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to perform data entry accurately at a high volume (10 key typing skills) while maintaining attention to detail
  • Experience with tax compliance related to payroll taxes and other statutory deductions
  • Excellent analysis skills for account reconciliation and financial reporting related to payroll processes
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems such as PeopleSoft or UltiPro is highly desirable
